Godly sorrow
brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but
worldly sorrow brings death. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting
joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and
sorrow and sighing will flee away. (Isaiah 35:10) Surely he took up our infirmities and carried
our sorrows Jesus wept. (John 11:35)
Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
My
soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and
keep watch with me.
(Matthew 26:38) A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but
heartache crushes the spirit. (Proverbs 15:13) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed
spirit dries up the bones. (Proverbs 17:22) Why are you downcast, 0 my soul? Why so
disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my
Savior and my God. (Psalm 43:5)
My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me
according to your word. (Psalm 119:28) **Copyright, 2002, Brian Campbell
