Scriptures on Action

Dear Children, let us not love with words or
tongue but with actions and in truth.
(1 John 3:18) Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22) For it is not those who hear the law who are
righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be
declared righteous. (Romans 2:13) Live such good lives among the pagans that, though
they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify
God on the day he visits us. (1 Peter 2:12) Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him
show it by his good life, by deeds done in humility that comes from
wisdom. Do not withhold good form those who deserve it,
when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor,
“Come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow” – when you now have it with
you. (Proverbs 3:27-28) What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to
have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother
or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him,
“Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about
his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself,
if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:14-17) Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show
you my faith by what I do. (James 2:18) They claim to know God, but by their actions they
deny him. You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith
without deeds is useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered
righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his
faith was made complete by what he did. (James 2:20-22) A person is justified by what he does and not by
faith alone. As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith
without deeds is dead. (James 2:26) Now that you know these things, you will be blessed
if you do them. (John 13:17)
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in
me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than
these, because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12)
I will show you what he is like who comes to
me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man
building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock.
When a flood came, the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its
destruction was complete. (Luke 6:49)
My mother and brothers are those who hear
God’s word and put it into practice. (Luke 8:21) Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:9) |
