Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old
he will not turn from it.
Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his
conduct is pure and right.
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in speech, in life,
in love, in faith, and in purity.
(1 Timothy 4:12)3
Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.
Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do
not forsake your mother's teaching.
Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the
end you will be wise.
A wise son heeds his father's instruction, but a
mocker does not listen to rebuke.
Hold on to instruction, do not let it go;
guard it well, for it is your life.
He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he
who respects a command is rewarded.
At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and
body are spent. You will say, "How I hated discipline! How
my heart spurned correction! I would not obey my teachers
or listen to my instructors. I have come to the brink of
utter ruin in the midst of the whole assembly."
Children, obey your parents in everything,
for this pleases theLord.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
My son, give me your heart
and let your eyes keep to my ways.
Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."
(1 Corinthians 15:33)14
Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or
walk in the way of evil men.
Fear the Lord and the king, my son,
and do not join with the rebellious.
He who walks with the wise grows wise,
but a companion of fools suffers harm.
My son, if sinners entice you,
do not give in to them.
My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not
resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those
he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
He who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever
heeds correction gains understanding.
A fool spurns his father's discipline, but whoever
heeds correction shows prudence.
How can a young man keep his way pure? By living
according to your word.
Honor your father and mother...that it may go well with you
and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
Walk in the ways I command you, that it may
go well with you.
Obey me and do everything I command you, and you
will be my people, and I will be your God.
Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?
This is love for God: to obey his commands.
(1 John 5:3)26
If you love me, you will obey what I command.
If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as
I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I
might not sin against you.
When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God Almighty.
I will not neglect your word.
The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
Every word of God is flawless.
The statutes you have laid down are righteous;
they are fully trustworthy.
Your word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the
word of our God stands forever.
It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the
least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.
Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep
all my commands always, so that it might go well with
them and their children forever!
We must obey God rather than men!
Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard;
obey it, and repent.
